Azu Tiwaline Curated Kinetic Club Track Playlist

Welcome back to Selections, a series of playlists curated by artists and connoisseurs.

2020 was a pivotal year for the Tunisian producer Azu Tiwaline. Between his first album Draw me a silence, released via the French label IOT Records, and its Magnetic service EP for Livity Sound, Bristol’s beloved brand, the artist has spent much of the year guiding curious new listeners through his rich, polyrhythmic soundscapes; realms in which British club music, organic textures and traditional North African styles have come together to form fascinating statements of intent.

In September, we caught up with Tiwaline as part of an anniversary report celebrating ten years of Livity Sound. Speaking about what she liked about the label, she told us she was drawn to her wit, as well as how her releases – and her roster – connect heavier, bass-rooted elements with techno. . It’s an approach Tiwaline takes when creating her own music and remixes, with Scalping, Flore and Nicola Cruz asking her for re-imaginations in recent months.

For her Selections playlist, Tiwaline brings together dynamic tracks and kinetic club tracks from a number of artists joining her on this year’s Positive Education Festival lineup. Speaking about his choices via email, Tiwaline said: “The idea of this tracklist is simply to share some songs from the producers present at this edition that I particularly like”.
